If Jesus won't be in Paradise, how could He promise the thief that the thief would be with Him in Paradise?

The bibles missing books
by jacethespace inthroughout the bible it constantly points to books which havent been included in the codex.for example it says "see the book of enoch" or "enoch prophesied of these..".and "see the book of jasher" as well as others.. the watchtower has always said that even though babylon the great isnt gods organization that they happened to be guided by gods holy spirit when they decided which books to cananize and which to not.. only thing is thinking about it one thing springs to mind!.
if they are written about in scripture under the israelites and under the christians of the 1st century then they were of course using these "missing books" back then anyway.. so the watchtowers stance on this is flawed.. does anyone else have anymore information on these missing books or the watchtowers info on this?.

If you really only want half the story, and if you don't want to see why the book needed to be referenced in the first place sure I guess you can avoid them.
Said books do indeed have valuable writings in them. In fact, people should familiarize themselves with them. This has no affect on the canonicity of the books in question.
Would you mind telling me exactly how you can figure out that one book saying it's inspired by God is actually inspired by God
The canon was set by examining those books that had been generally accepted by the Christian community as a whole. The group of marginal books was fairly small, about a half dozen. The difference in the nature of the texts is quite pronounced.
and another one saying the same thing isn't?
The only book that comes immediately to mind that “says the same thing” is the Shepherd of Hermas which is similar to Psalms and Proverbs. There is no problem in according this book a high status, even if we deny that it is part of the canon. The early fathers quoted this book.
Especially if the book you're saying IS inspired by God references this other book that you say isn't.
So? What is the problem here? Through-out history, it has been common practice to cite other sources. If the Bible writers didn’t, you would be trying to use that to make some sort of point.

God’s Word [Jesus] speaks to his disciples through the holy spirit that he said he would send, just as he promised them that he would
Ummm… Help me out here. I presume that you are a disciple, right? Does Jesus speak to you through the Holy Spirit? If so, why do you need the GB? Are you “spirit directed”? Aren’t the only people spirit directed the annointed?
OH! OHHHH!! I GET IT! We have an annointed brother on the board with us!

How many of you knew about the"Jesus is not your Mediator" teaching when you were JWs??
by Lady Liberty inhi everyone.... just curious how many of you knew when you were active, about the societys official teaching regarding jesus the mediator.
i was floored to find in my research, that they teach jesus is the mediator for the 144,000 only.
and it is only by our association with them that we might have salvation.. i don't know about you guys but i was blown away when i learned they taught this.

Actually, if we are to accept the idea that the sacrifice had to be balanced, then Jesus would HAVE to be God. God is an infinite god. He is infinite in honor. When commit a sin, we dishonor Him of infinite honor. We have committed an infinite offense and need an infinite sacrifice. Only God, in the person of Jesus can fulfill that. Jesus, also being infinite, endured infinite shame on the cross.

Here is Hebrews 8:6 in context:
Chapter 8
1 Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 2 and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being. 3 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. 4 If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already priests who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. 5 They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: “See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain.” 6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises. 7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. 8 But God found fault with the people and said: “The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbors, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.” 13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
The words “Jesus is specifically mediator to the covenant between between annointed and God” simply do not appear here in any way, shape, or form. All it is saying is that there is a new covenant the replaces the old one and that Jesus is the priest of the new one. Nothing here limits the covenant or mediation to some “annointed” class.

Witnesses and Marines
by Grunt inthings about the jehovah's witnesses that remind me of the marine corps.
1. both demand conformity in hair cuts, dress and attitudes, failure to conform will bring disciplinary action and forestall.
2. both try and isolate you from the world, though only for three months at parris island, a lifetime with the witnesses.. .
